Core Group Meeting of AIKS.
Discussions were held by members of AIKS Core Group at R K Puram office on 29th December 2018 to take stock of the events held in previous week at Jammu. All members expressed their appreciation for the events and role of President, Col Tej Tikoo came for special appreciation for his leadership, resulting in successful conclusion of all events. It was unanimously agreed to continue such interactions with individuals and organisations as well as youth.
The youth wing would maintain continuous contact with the youth members and help them overcome multiple problems faced by them including those working in the valley under PM package.
The core group also reaffirmed periodic interaction meetings would be held in future also at Jammu to address concerns faced by the community members.
International Mother Tongue Day 2019.
Like in previous years, AIKS along with Centre for Kashmiri Language, Literature and Culture (CKLLC), a unit of All India Kashmiri Samaj, will be organizing a full day programme on 21st February 2019 to coincide with International Mother Tongue Day celebrated globally by UN on this day.
Prof Roop Krishen Bhat, as hitherto, will head the organizing committee and prepare details of the programme which include presentations and discussions by prominent personalities related to this field, cultural programme, mushairas in Kashmiri language. Involvement of children will be a key focus as they are future guardians of our language and culture.
Observance of 29th Holocaust Day.
Kashmiri Pandits in exile observe Holocaust Day on 19th January every year all over the globe. It was on this day in 1990 that commenced Lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits to leave their motherland of generations following a well planned and executed assault on the microscopic community by Islamic fundamentalists and Jehadis.
AIKS – N-Gen Team participated in the peaceful protest held by RIK & JKVM where a large gathering of men, women and children expressed themselves at Rajghat to highlight the atrocities perpetuated on us 29 years back. Placards and posters were used to give vent to our feelings and details are mentioned elsewhere in this edition. The gathering also offered floral tributes to ‘Father of the Nation.
Later at a solemn function was held at AIKS headquarter at KR Puram, the Martyrs’ who lost their lives during that period were remembered and prayers were offered in front of their photos and candles lit in their memory. The function was attended by office bearers and others participated.
